Students will understand that: gravity, friction, and changes in mass affect the motion of objects. it is possible to measure the motion of an object based on the distance it traveled in a certain amount of time. a graph can be constructed to demonstrate the relationship of time and distance traveled. a greater force produces a greater change in motion; this same force would produce a lesser effect on an object with greater mass. the weight of an object is equal to the sum of its parts. summarizing properties of original materials and the new material(s) formed provide evidence that a change - physical or chemical - may have occurred.
